Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's wait list acceptance rates have shown a downward trend in recent years. For the Class of 2022, 13,311 students were offered a place on the wait list, with an 18.46% acceptance rate, while for the Class of 2021, the rate was higher at 22.02% with 14,952 offered. In stark contrast, the Class of 2020 had a significantly higher acceptance rate of 36.7% from 10,800 offers. This decline over the past few years indicates increasing competition among applicants and a more selective wait list process.
